Scanadu: Tricoder
In 2011 he set up Scanadu, a deep-science research lab at NASA Ames in Silicon Valley, to make the mythical tricorder. In the fictional Star Trek universe, a tricorder is a multifunction handheld device used for sensor scanning, data analysis, and recording data. The lab has promised to make the prototype in 18 months.
